EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC volunteered at Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memoria Library in Mercedes, Texas for Day 11 of the 12 Days of Toros campaign as the club serves the Rio Grande Valley community for 12 days during the holiday season.
The club assisted Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library by distributing 150 goodie bags that incorporated a children's book via a drive-thru system to residents of Mercedes and Hidalgo County. "Books have always been a way to expand our minds and the Mercedes Public Library wanted to provide that to kids through their book giveaway today," said Juan Gonzalez, Director of Ticket Sales.
Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Library serves the Mercedes community along with Hidalgo County. They offer a variety of resources from children's books to online magazines. The children's department has virtual events for families to enjoy from the comfort of their home.
The library's mission is to inform, educate and entertain through a variety of formats with the purpose of strengthening our community. In addition, their core values are to support intellectual freedom, promote lifelong learning and literacy, form strong partnerships, respect and embrace the community and adapt and innovate.
