Dates Announced for Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16

Miami - The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) unveiled today the dates and kickoff times for the Round of 16 matches of the 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, the region's premier club championship.

The Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League crowns a champion among a field of sixteen clubs qualified from North, Central America and the Caribbean. The pairings for the Round of 16 were determined at the Official Draw, which took place on Monday, December 18, in Miami.

First leg matches of the Round of 16 are scheduled to be played from February 20-22, 2018. Action begins on Tuesday, February 20 in Central America, with a match-up between CS Herediano (CRC) and Tigres UANL (MEX). Later that night, in Colorado, 2017 Canadian Cup and MLS Cup Champion Toronto FC (CAN) will face fellow MLS side Colorado Rapids (USA).

Those opening matches are the first to be played among the eight scheduled for the opening week, as the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League kicks off across the Confederation.

On Wednesday evening, seven-time CONCACAF Champion Club America (MEX) will visit Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) in San Jose, Costa Rica, while Tauro FC (PAN) will host FC Dallas (USA) in Panama. To close out the evening, FC Motagua (HON) will face off against Club Tijuana (MEX).

The first leg matches will conclude on Thursday night, with the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF League Champion CD Olimpia (HON) hosting the New York Red Bulls (USA) and Santa Tecla FC (SLV) taking on Seattle Sounders FC (USA).

Additionally, Cibao FC (DOM) will play host the first-ever Champions League match in the Dominican Republic when it hosts CD Guadalajara (MEX).

The second leg Round of 16 matches will be played the following week, February 27 to Match 1, beginning with Toronto FC (CAN) vs. Colorado Rapids (USA), Tigres UANL (MEX) vs. CS Herediano (CRC) and Club Tijuana (MEX) vs. FC Motagua (HON) on Tuesday, February 27.

Play will continue Wednesday night with FC Dallas (USA) vs. Tauro FC (PAN), CD Guadalajara (MEX) vs. Cibao FC (DOM) and Club America (MEX) vs. Deportivo Saprissa (CRC). The final two matches of the Round of 16, will see New York Red Bulls (USA) at home versus CD Olimpia (HON) and Santa Tecla FC (SLV) at Seattle Sounders FC (USA).

The range of dates for the first leg quarterfinals, to be disputed among the eight Round of 16 winners, is March 6-8. The second leg quarterfinals are scheduled for 13-15. The semifinals and championship home-and-away final of the competition are scheduled for April.

The winner of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League will represent the region in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup, to be disputed in the United Arab Emirates.
