Winston-Salem Dash News Release

POTOMAC UPENDS DASH TUESDAY

Four pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout in Potomac's 5-0 victory over the Dash Tuesday night inside BB&T Ballpark. Starter Marcos Frias allowed six base runners but worked into the fourth for his longest outing of the season. Winning pitcher David Fischer whiffed six over three and a third dominant frames. Both Rob Wort and Richie Mirowski spun a scoreless frame out of the bullpen to complete the fourth shutout by a Dash opponent this season.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END

For the first time since July 24, 2011, Potomac won a game in Winston-Salem. Before their shutout victory Tuesday, the P-Nats had lost 14 consecutive contests inside BB&T Ballpark. Last season, the Dash won all 10 games between the two clubs in the Triad before claiming the first four affairs here in 2013. During this run, Winston-Salem outscored Potomac by 49 runs (107-58) and averaged 7.6 runs per game. Since BB&T Ballpark opened in 2010, the Dash are still 27-8 (.771) versus the Nationals at home.

ON THE OTHER END

Winston-Salem leads the Carolina League and trails only St. Lucie in High-A baseball with nine shutout victories, but the Dash suffered their fourth shutout defeat Tuesday night. Winston has already failed to score in two games this half after failing to score only twice throughout the first half. Potomac had not recorded a shutout victory over the Dash since May 2, 2012, when the P-Nats snapped a 10-game winning streak, the longest run in the Dash era (2009-present).

CURL(EY)ING TOWARD THE TOP

Despite an 0-for-2 effort Tuesday, Dash infielder Chris Curley is still second in the league in home runs (17), RBIs (62) and runs scored (60). He also stands fourth in hits (96), fourth in slugging percentage (.491), sixth in OPS (.846) and 12th in batting average (.287). Curley has more homers this year than he had throughout his minor league career before 2013 (14).

BASSITT MISSING BATS

Winston-Salem starter Chris Bassitt has twirled a quality start in four straight outings dating back to June 11. During this run, Bassitt has struck out 30 men in 24.1 innings, which is the highest strikeout total over a four-start span in his minor league career. This year, the former Akron Zip has accumulated 90 strikeouts, which is good for fifth-most on the circuit. In his only outing versus the P-Nats this season, the righty battled the flu during a five-inning, one-run outing on May 10.

MICAH MOUSE

Since his promotion from Low-A Kannapolis Wednesday, Micah Johnson has hit safely in all six games he has played. Johnson is hitting .360 (9-for-25) with three RBIs and four runs scored. He has also swiped a pair of bases, pushing his 2013 total to a minor league-leading 63 stolen bases. Lake Elsinore's Travis Jankowski is second with 53 swipes, while Louisville's Billy Hamilton, who set the all-time minor league single-season mark with 155 swipes a year ago, is third with 50. Johnson also sits atop the minors with 80 runs scored in his 83 games.

CASE OF THE TUESDAYS

The Dash have reversed their tendencies during the first two days of the work week. After starting the 2013 season 1-8 on Monday, Winston has won three consecutive games on Monday. However, following an 8-2 start during Tuesday games, the Dash have lost three in a row.

DASH DOTS

Winston-Salem and Potomac have played 12 times thus far this season, and there have only been two saves recorded in the season series (one per team) even though seven of the games have been decided by three runs or less... Tuesday starter Myles Jaye turned in his fifth straight quality start (6.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER)...Winston is an even 9-9 in day games thus far this year... Rangel Ravelo has posted 18 multi-hit efforts in 51 games in the CL...If he qualified, Ravelo would be second on the circuit in average (.326).
