
Danbury Whalers Announce the Return of Playoff MVP Goaltender Mike Brown

The Danbury Whalers are proud to announce that goaltender Mike Brown has signed an agreement with the team the 2013-14 hockey season.
Brown, a native of Baldwinsville, New York, returns to the Whalers after leading the club to the 2012-13 Federal Hockey League championship. In 6 playoff games, Brown posted a 6-0 record, 2.17 GAA, a .940 Save %, and recorded 1 shutout. Brown was named the Most Valuable Player of the post season.
For the 2nd straight season, the Danbury Whalers placed a Goaltender on the All-FHL Team. Mike Brown's stellar regular season landed him this honor following Peter Vetri's 2011-12 award. Brown posted 22 wins was tied for the FHL lead and also set a Danbury Whalers team record. Brown also set Whalers team records for games (40), minutes played (2168), and saves (1220).
Drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 5th round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Brown has played 13 games in the American Hockey League (Providence Bruins) and registered a 6-2-0 record. While in Providence during the 05-06 season he served as a backup and teammate to former Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas. Brown has also had career stops in the ECHL, CHL, SPHL, and Germany.
Mike Brown commented, "I am extremely happy to be back in Danbury. It's a tremendous city to play in and the fan support is amazing. Winning the Cup and having a chance to defend it is something my teammates and I are really looking forward to. Watching the banner go up on November 2nd is going to be pretty cool from there our goal is to do it again."
