D-League Summer Notebook

AMONG REVIEW LEADERS: Former Fayetteville forward Britton Johnsen leads the Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue in scoring at 19.0 ppg for the Spurs and 2005 D-League MVP Matt Carroll (Roanoke) is second at 17.0 for the Bobcats ...Johnsen is also third in rebounding (7.0) and second in three-point FG% (7-12, .583)...Carroll (32.7) and Johnsen (29.5) are first and second, respectively, in minutes played.

BIG DAY AT THE DELTA CENTER: Former Huntsville (2003-04) teammates Mateen Cleaves and Alex Scales combined for 31 points for the Sonics at the Rocky Mountain Revue on Tuesday. Cleaves led all scorers with 18 and dished out four assists.

AND AT THE TARGET CENTER: Former Fayetteville guard Omar Cook had 10 assists for Toronto in the final day of the Minnesota Summer League on Tuesday...Kirk Penney (Asheville) scored 11 in a starting role for the Bucks... LeRoy Hurd (Columbus) scored 13 off the bench for the Pacers in a win over the Timberwolves.

CHECKING IN AT LONG BEACH: A quartet of former D-Leaguers were on the court at the Summer Pro League for the Lakers and the Heat Tuesday in Long Beach. Earl Barron (Huntsville), Ramel Curry (Columbus) and Kareem Reid (Asheville, Arkansas) helped the Heat to a 78-76 victory, with Barron scoring 15 and grabbing eight rebounds. Smush Parker (Florida) scored 12, had seven rebounds and four assists for the Lakers.

NEW LOOK: On Tuesday, the NBDL officially became the NBA Development League to better reflect the future role of the league within the new NBA-NBPA's Collective Bargaining Agreement. Along with the new name, the league adopted new logos, a new official Spalding Infusion basketball and several uniform enhancements.

D-LEAGUE FOR SHORT: In addition to the name change, the league also officially adopted the nickname of "D-League" already widely used by fans and players.
