New Britain Rock Cats News Release

The annual "Power of Ability" Night, presented by The Rideshare Company, at the Rock Cats is scheduled for Tuesday, June 26th. The Rock Cats will take on the Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM, gates open at 5:35 PM. Special Olympics CT and group homes will be in attendance that evening in celebration of the "Power of Ability".

This awareness night, in support of people with disabilities, will consist of a 'meet and greet' with D.J. Gregory in the concourse beginning during pre-game at 5:35 PM until the 3rd inning of the Rock Cats game. D.J. was born with cerebral palsy and was told he would never walk. He has overcome his challenges by setting a goal to walk every hole of every round of every event on the 2008 PGA tour. He exceeded all expectations when he walked 44 tournaments in 45 weeks, reaching over 900 miles. D.J. has continued to be a prime example of someone who does not let his disability over take his life. "I am very excited to be attending the "Power of Ability" Night this Tuesday. I hope the crowds come out to support such a great cause. In 2008 I had a dream to walk every hole of every PGA Tour tournament. I accomplished my goal and with continued support I formed the Walking For Kids Foundation. If you have a goal and dream-GO AFTER IT! Through hard work and determination anything is possible." - D.J. Gregory

A portion of each walk-up ticket sold at the Rock Cats game this Tuesday, June 26th will benefit the Walking For Kids Foundation in an effort to successfully maintain D.J.'s dream. D.J. will also be throwing out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game that evening. Mr. Jon Colman, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Rideshare Company, sponsor of the June 26th "Power of Ability Night", will be also be speaking on the field during pre-game. Founded in 1980, The Rideshare Company is a not-for-profit committed to reducing traffic and improving air quality by reducing single occupant vehicles on the roadways.
