December 16, 2008 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - D.C. United News Release

Washington, D.C. (December 16, 2008) - D.C. United announced today it will once again support Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's Annual Capitol Hill Holiday Party for D.C.'s disadvantaged youth. This is the fourth year in a row in which the club and its charitable arm, United for D.C., have helped Congresswoman Norton stage this D.C. Holiday tradition. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, and will be held in the Cannon House Office Building.

"We are extremely happy to be a part of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's Holiday Party again this year," said United Community Relations Director Aprile Pritchet. "The club is thrilled to be in a position to put a smile on so many children's faces."

D.C. United player Ben Olsen will be present to lend a helping hand to Santa Claus by distributing toys, donated by United staff and supporters, to all in attendance. In addition to donating children's toys, D.C. United and United for D.C. will also provide staff and volunteers to help during the event.

For the past eighteen years, the Eleanor Holmes Norton Annual Capitol Hill Christmas Party has provided toys, such as board games, books and sports equipment, as well as warm clothes to disadvantaged kids in the D.C. area. More than 300 children are expected to benefit from this year's event.
