DENVER - The Denver Cutthroats received three top marks at the Central Hockey League's (CHL) 18th annual ‘Summer Conference' banquet held in Phoenix, Ariz. on Friday, July 19. The league's award banquet honors the top office executives and team achievements from the 2012-13 season.

Denver Cutthroats Governor Greg Smith was named the winner of the Kozuback Award, named in recognition of former CHL President Rick Kozuback. This award is ‘presented annually to the Central Hockey League owner, front office staff member, coach or player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and commitment to the game, sport and business of hockey.' Smith played a large role in helping the Cutthroats get off to a solid start in the team's inaugural season and continues to support the CHL with the new ownership and organization of the league.

The Cutthroats were also awarded Merchandising Franchise and New Media Franchise of the year. The team's success in the high number of merchandise sales and number of followers, likes, types of promotions and information distributed through all social media outlets contributed to the team's top marks at the CHL conference.

"The Denver Cutthroats had a fantastic inaugural season in 2012-13," said Denver Cutthroats President Ben Rifkin. "We're ecstatic to be recognized by our peers for our achievements."
