Calgary, AB - The 30th annual Canada Day Lacrosse Tournament, hosted by the Okotoks Minor Lacrosse Club was tagged a huge success!

There were 69 teams from across Canada involved in the tournament totalling 1200 athletes. The tournament hosted approximately 3000 visitors per day.

Among the excellent lacrosse featured this past weekend, the Calgary Roughnecks were involved in a unique way! Roughnecks goaltender Curtis Palidwor made an appearance on Saturday from 5pm-7:30pm to take part in an event called "Score on the Door". More than 200 kids had the opportunity to purchase tickets to shoot on the professional goalie in support of local charitable groups.

The CDLA along with Curtis Palidwor helped raise $1030.00. Of the total amount, $515.00 will go to the Alberta Children's Hospital (selected by Curtis Palidwor) and the other $515.00 will support the fundraising efforts for Team Alberta (Peewee and Bantam level) when they compete at Nationals in Whitby, Ontario at the end of July.

In addition to the money raised Curtis generously donated his game worn jersey from the 2006 season to the CDLA to auction off. The jersey went for $400. The money will be donated to KidSport Calgary.

"It was awesome to be a part of this tournament once again, as I took part in it back in my minor lacrosse days," said Roughnecks goaltender Curtis Palidwor. "Score on the Door was a great event giving the young kids a unique opportunity to shoot on a professional goaltender from the NLL, but most importantly this event helped raise money for charity."
