ASHEVILLE, NC - C Kellin Deglan hit two home runs, and CF Jake Skole belted a grand slam, to help pace the 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads 16-6 victory against the Asheville Tourists, before 1,221 fans at Historic McCormick Field on Sunday evening. Skole's grand slam was the Crawdads sixth slam of the season, setting an all-time Crawdads record for most grand slams in a single season.

Hickory(65-46, 25-18) started the scoring with a six-run barrage in the top of the fifth against RHP Peter Tago. With one away, LF Alejandro Selen doubled to get himself on, then trotted in on Deglan's first two-run homer of the game. RF Jhonny Gomez was then hit by a pitch, followed by a SS Jurickson Profar double, putting two runners back on the bases. The Crawdads continued the rally with an RBI single by 2B Odubel Herrera, an RBI base hit by 1B Andrew Clark after C Tomas Telis had walked, an RBI sacrifice fly from 3B Christian Villanueva and an RBI single by Skole to cap the six-run stanza and take the 6-0 lead.

Asheville (55-57, 24-19), however worked it back even with two runs in the bottom of the fifth against RHP Luke Jackson and four runs in the bottom of the sixth off of RHP Jorge Marban and RHP Ben Rowen (W, 3-4). The game-tying blow came with the bases loaded and two out in the sixth, when 3B Joey Wong drove a three-run double to square the score at 6-6.

The Crawdads wasted no time retaking the lead, striking for six more runs in the top of the seventh inning against RHP Juan Gonzalez (L, 1-7). With one out, Hickory loaded the bases on a Telis double, a Clark single and a hit-by-pitch taken by Villanueva. Skole then belted the ball over the high right-field wall, unloading the bases with his second grand slam of the season and setting the all-time Crawdads team mark, while also putting Hickory quickly back in front, 10-6. Hickory worked the bases loaded again later in the frame, followed by RBI singles from Gomez and Telis to make it 12-6.

The 'Dads kept swinging away with two more runs in each of the eighth and ninths innings. Deglan hit his second two-run shot in the eighth, before a Villanueva RBI double and a Deglan RBI single capped the scoring in the top of the ninth, accounting for the 16-6 final score in the victory for the Crawdads. Hickory's 22 hits in the game were just one shy of tying the all-time record for most hits in a game set in Asheville in 2004.
