PRINCE GEORGE, BC - Join the Prince George Cougars on Saturday, March 5, as the team celebrates its parents and billets night and hands out the annual Cougars player awards.
Prior to puck drop Saturday against the Spokane Chiefs, the Cougars will introduce fans to the parents and billets of Cougars players. Parents and billets will be presented a flower by their player as each is introduced.
Following the parents and billets introductions, the Cougars will honour this season ¬â¢s top performers with the annual player award presentations. There are five awards that will be presented at centre ice; Most Valuable Player, Top Defenceman, Rookie of the Year, Most Dedicated and Scholastic Player of the Year. The Cougars will also recognize one of their outstanding volunteers with the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Each of the Cougars three graduating players will be recognized before the game Saturday. Forwards Taylor Stefishen and James Dobrowolski and defenceman Sena Acolatse will all receive their Cougars jersey ¬â¢s from Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky.
"Saturday is going to be a very special night for everyone involved with the Cougars organization," said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. "This has been a very good year for the team on and off the ice and we can ¬â¢t wait to celebrate with our fans the success our team has had during the year."
The Cougars would like to remind fans that you have a say in which Cougars player will win the Hubbell Designer Goldsmiths Player of the Year award. Each of the five monthly award winners, Brett Connolly, Nick Buonassisi, Ty Rimmer, Greg Fraser and Taylor Stefishen, are contenders for the Player of the Year award that will be determined by fan votes on the Cougars website, www.pgcougars.com. The winner will receive a handcrafted 14 carat ring, designed and created by Darrell Hubbell of Hubbell Designer Goldsmiths, which will be presented to the winning player at the Cougars final home game of the regular season, Saturday, March 19, prior to puck drop against the Kamloops Blazers.
The Cougars entertain the Spokane Chiefs Friday and Saturday at CN Centre and puck drop is 7:00pm both nights. Tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 250-564-5585.
