Columbus Crew SC's Wil Trapp and Zack Steffen Receive International Call-Ups from the United States Men's National Team

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Wil Trapp and goalkeeper Zack Steffen have received international call-ups from the United States Men's National Team. The U.S. is set to face Ireland in a friendly match at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on June 2 before facing France at Groupama Stadium in Lyon on June 9.

The friendly contests against Ireland and France are part of three currently scheduled matches for the U.S. Men's National Team in the next month. The match against Ireland marks the first contest between the two teams since a match at Aviva Stadium in Dublin on November 18, 2014. The friendly against France is set to be the first match between the two since a contest at Stade de France in Saint-Denis on November 11, 2011.

Crew SC captain Wil Trapp has represented the U.S. Men's National Team on four occasions, with his last appearance coming as a starter in a 1-0 victory against Paraguay on March 28, 2018. In addition to making his second start for the Stars and Stripes, Trapp captained the team while playing the full 90 minutes. Previously, Trapp represented the U.S. at the youth level, having participated in Olympic qualifying with the U.S. Under-23 squad, captaining the team against Colombia in both legs of the playoff for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

In 2018, Trapp's sixth season with the Black & Gold, he has made 12 regular-season appearances (all starts), while completing 771 of his 875 passes in MLS regular-season action, holding fifth place in attempted passes and completed passes among players in the League, per Opta. Additionally, Trapp leads Crew SC in the following categories: passes (875), successful passes (771) and passes into the final third (137). In 2017, the midfielder led the League in completed passes (2,034) and was one of only two players, along with Toronto FC's Michael Bradley, to successfully complete over 2,000 passes in regular-season action.

Goalkeeper Zack Steffen recently earned his second cap for the U.S. Men's National Team, as a starter in a 1-0 victory against Paraguay on March 28, 2018. Steffen recorded three saves while helping the Stars and Stripes register a shutout. Prior to featuring for the U.S. Men's National Team, Steffen featured consistently for the United States' national youth teams, from the U-14 to the U-21 level.

Steffen is in his third season with Crew SC and has made 13 regular-season appearances (all starts), while registering seven shutouts. The goalkeeper has registered five consecutive shutouts for the club in regular-season action, and currently leads the League in shutouts in the 2018 MLS regular season, with seven clean sheets. In 2017, Steffen played every minute of every match during the regular season for the Black & Gold, registering 16 wins and nine shutouts, both club records for a Crew SC goalkeeper in his first year of play.
