Colt Hynes Promoted to Triple-A Tucson

April 25, 2013 - Texas League (TL1)
San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio - The San Diego Padres have announced that Missions' reliever Colt Hynes has been promoted to Triple-A Tucson.

The 27-year-old, left-hander was off to a terrific start in 10 games this season with San Antonio, going 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA. After allowing a run in his season debut vs. Tulsa on 4/5, Hynes had put up zeroes in his last nine appearances, including two, two-inning efforts.

Hynes' SO/9 IP ratio of 11.68 (16 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched) is fourth among Texas League relievers. He is also one of five TL relievers that have yet to walk a batter this season.

The Oklahoma City, OK native was selected by the Padres in the 31st round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Texas Tech University.

This is Hynes' third stint with Tucson, having made 22 appearances for the Padres in 2011 and 30 games (21 starts) last season.

There is no corresponding move for the Missions at this time, meaning their roster sits at 24, one shy of the Texas League limit.
