Cole Burbidge Named Videotron Player of the Week

Published on October 2, 2023 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

Boucherville, QC - The latest Videotron Player of the Week is Cape Breton Eagles center, Cole Burbidge. In a pair of road contests, the 18-year-old from Windsor, Nova Scotia scored twice and added three assists as the Eagles went 2-0-0-0 over the weekend.

On Friday night in Saint John, the Eagles defeated the Sea Dogs by a score of 4-3 and Burbidge played a key role in taking down his former team. The centerman had himself a stellar second period with a goal and an assist. For his efforts, the second year forward was named the game's second star.

Back in the Port City on Saturday, Burbidge scored once more and added a pair of helpers in the Eagles' 5-4 overtime triumph over the Sea Dogs. Burbidge's shorthanded tally, scored with just under two minutes remaining in the third period, forced the overtime session as Cape Breton rallied from a pair of two goal deficits to earn the victory.

A second-round selection of the Sea Dogs at the 2021 QMJHL Entry Draft, Burbidge was acquired by the Eagles this past offseason after finishing fourth in the league's rookie scoring race with 50 points in 68 games last year.
