York Revolution News Release

Chris Cody tied one York Revolution record while setting another, combining with three relievers to shut out the Camden Riversharks 5-0 on Thursday night at Campbell's Field in the series finale. The Revs avoid a sweep with the win, and will return home to open the final home series of the 2013 season at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Friday night when they host the Bridgeport Bluefish in the first of a four-game set beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The shutout win was the fifth of the season for the Revs and the fourth started by Cody (14-8) who tied York's single-season wins record with the victory, while setting a new club record for most strikeouts in a season.

Cody allowed just three hits and three walks in 6.2 innings, striking out seven on the night. He wasted little time in taking care of the strikeout record.

After beginning the first inning with a pair of groundouts, Cody struck out Dionys Cesar to end the inning, tying the second-most strikeouts in a single season in Revs history with 129 total.

Cody then began the second inning by striking out Delwyn Young to tie the record, and Valentino Pascucci to set a new record with 131 punch outs, eclipsing Aaron Rakers' previous club record from the 2008 season. Cody finished the night increasing his season strikeout total to a league-leading 135 on the year.

The Revs broke through offensively in the top of the fifth inning scoring three times to snap a scoreless tie. Matt Spencer drew a one-out walk to set the stage for the rally, and came racing around from first base to slide home with the game's first run on a double to deep left-center by Salvador Paniagua. Kody Kirkland then doubled to left putting runners at second and third, and both scored when Ruddy Yan followed with a two-run double down the left field line to give the Revs a 3-0 lead.

Chad Tracy scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning after leading off with a single, and Spencer nailed a solo homer to right leading off the ninth, his eighth home run of the season, to provide the insurance.

Cody's 14 wins matches the record established by teammate Corey Thurman last season. Cody is scheduled to make two more starts this season, both in Sugar Land on the team's final road trip.

Riversharks starter Joey Williamson (2-2) took the loss, charged with four runs in six innings of work.

Notes: Cody finishes the season 4-0 in five starts against Camden with the Revs winning all five. He tossed scoreless ball over his last 19.2 innings head-to-head against the Riversharks. Cody has allowed just five earned runs total in 36.2 innings over his last five starts, posting a 1.23 ERA on that stretch. The win is Cody's 33rd in a Revolution uniform, the league's most since making his Atlantic League debut in 2011. York's 11 hits marked the team's most since August 19, as it was their highest hit total in 14 games. The Revs finish the season series 10-10 against the Riversharks, 5-5 both at home and on the road. York righty Anthony Claggett will make his Revolution debut in Friday's opener against Bridgeport, facing Bluefish lefty Hunter Jones (7-12, 4.18). It is Girl's Night Out with a Pink Totebag Giveaway presented by Memorial Hospital to the first 1,500 fans. There will also be a Postgame Diamond Dig presented by Scott & Co. Fine Jewelers. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
