WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Alexander Vargas hit a two run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning and Hudson Valley topped the BlueClaws 9-7 on Friday night.

Vargas' home run, his ninth of the year, came off Matt Russell (5-6) and snapped the BlueClaws win streak at six games. They fell back to three games behind first place Brooklyn.

Jersey Shore did not score the inherited runner in the 11th or 12th innings. Russell got out of the jam in the 11th, but not the 12th. Shane Gray (1-1) earned the win for the Renegades.

The BlueClaws fell behind early as Hudson Valley scored four times in the first inning off Samuel Aldegheri. The inning included an RBI single from Jesus Rodriguez, an RBI double from Anthony Hall, an RBI double from Alexander Vargas, and an RBI groundout from Spencer Henson.

Hall and Vargas singled in runs in the second as well to give the Renegades a 6-0 lead.

The BlueClaws got going in the third, plating two runs. Cade Fergus, playing in his first game with the BlueClaws, singled in a run and a second scored on a throwing error following a grounder from Otto Kemp.

The score remained 6-2 into the sixth inning when the BlueClaws got back in the game. Andrick Nava singled in a run before Leandro Pineda walked with the bases loaded to cut the lead to 6-4. Rixon Wingrove walked with the bases loaded to make it 6-5 and Jared Carr hit a fielder's choice groundout that tied the game at six.

Hudson Valley had the winning run in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth but Wesley Moore got a big strikeout to force extra innings.

In the 10th, Leandro Pineda's SAC fly gave the BlueClaws a 7-6 lead. Hudson Valley then had runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the inning and tied the game on a balk, before Wesley Moore got a strikeout with runners on second and third to end the inning and send the game to the 11th.

Aldegheri gave up six runs in 1.2 innings. Cam Wynne came out of the pen and threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, his longest outing of the season.

Otto Kemp had two hits for the BlueClaws while Leandro Pineda drove in two runs.

The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 6:05 pm.
