Published on July 6, 2005 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
The Central Hockey League has today finalized the participants of the CHL Competition Committee, formed in early June and consisting of CHL Coaches, General Managers and Governors. The group, along with CHL management, will convene on a regular basis to identify and consider possible rule and procedural changes for the 2005-2006 regular season and beyond. The CHL Competition Committee's membership provides a wide array of experience from playing, coaching, management and marketing perspectives. The Competition Committee is comprised of coaches Ken McRae (Corpus Christi Rayz), Chris Dashney (Lubbock Cotton Kings) and Terry Ruskowski (Laredo Bucks) along with Austin Ice Bats' President Jeff Buch, Fort Worth Brahmas' General Manager Mike Barack and Colorado Eagles' President Ralph Backstrom
"The purpose of the CHL Competition Committee is very clear," stated CHL President Brad Treliving. "We want this group to provide a strong evaluation of both existing and potential new rule and policy changes that will ideally enhance the CHL game experience for our fans." Once completed, the Competition Committee will present their recommendations to the CHL Board of Governors for final approval prior to the season.
The Central Hockey League enters its 14th season of play in October having led all North American "AA" leagues in average attendance for four consecutive seasons, while also serving as the only "AA" circuit to welcome over 4,000 fans per contest for each of the last four regular and playoff seasons. The 2005-2006 CHL season will begin October 21st, featuring 15 teams in seven states.
