SYRACUSE (NY) - The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Durham Bulls 5-3 in Spring Training action Thursday at the Rays complex in St. Petersburg, Florida.
First-baseman Kevin Barker drove home two runs with a double in the top of the third inning for the Chiefs. Third-baseman John Hattig had two hits and scored a run for Syracuse
Brandon League started on the mound for Syracuse and gave up three runs on four hits in one inning of work. Ismael Ramirez tossed four scoreless innings in relief allowing just two hits, Josh Banks threw three scoreless allowing just one hit and Jamie Vermilyea closed out the game with one scoreless inning.
The Chiefs (4-3-1) travel to Clearwater, Florida on Friday to take on the Ottawa Lynx at 1:00 PM at the Phillies Complex.
