Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs have reassigned two players; defenseman Eddie Friesen (Manitoba) and goaltender Alex Wright (Prince George, BC).

The moves leave the Chiefs with 29 players on their roster, including two goaltenders, 10 defenseman and 17 forwards. By age, the Chiefs are carrying four 20-year-olds, six 19-year-olds, seven 18-year-olds, eight 17-year-olds and four 16-year-olds.

Spokane's roster also counts four players who are at NHL training camps.

After playing at a rookie tournament in Traverse City, MI last week, forwards Levko Koper and Tyler Johnson have moved on to Atlanta's and Minnesota's main training camps.

Mitch Wahl is also participating in the Calgary Flames main training camp. Defenseman Jared Cowen, Ottawa's first round draft selection last summer, remains with the Senators at their camp.

Three veterans have been injured throughout the preseason and didn't participate in any games; Ryan Letts (Achilles), Jared Spurgeon (shoulder) and Corbin Baldwin (hand).

The Chiefs will open the 2009-10 regular season on Friday, September 18th versus the Prince George Cougars at 7:00. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 6:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA. The game will be the first of two in as many nights versus the Cougars.

Spokane will host the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 26th on Bud Light Opening Night. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a collector's edition 25th Anniversary Puck courtesy of The Black Book by Hagadone Directories.

Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
