Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
More Space in Time for New Season
Waterloo, Iowa- A larger, enhanced Coors Light Cold Zone will be unveiled when the Waterloo Black Hawks open their 2017/18 home schedule in just over a week on Saturday, October 14th against the Dubuque Fighting Saints, the Hawks announced Friday.
To celebrate, Coors Light will be available to those age 21 and over for $2 during the game.
Construction began just weeks ago, with a new floor now suspended above Young Arena's ticket office lobby. Fans will now have the opportunity to observe downtown Waterloo while standing beside the building's front windows above the main entrance. A counter for beverages borders the entire area, and additional high-top tables will also be available. With more room, the Black Hawks anticipate offering live music and other lounge activities as part of the game experience.
"This came together with remarkable speed thanks to the precision and professionalism of all the workers who were on site with a wide array of specialties," said Black Hawks Vice President of Business Operations Joe Greene. "We are proud that we are able to offer the fans who will be with us next weekend the first look at this new amenity."
The expanded area now has nearly double the floor space of the original Coors Light Cold Zone. Besides the obvious additions, construction crews also rerouted ventilation infrastructure and added more lighting outside the ticket windows.
The October 14th matchup against Dubuque will be the first of six $2 beer nights throughout the season. Sixteen ounce aluminum bottles will be available from all beer stands in recognition of the Cold Zone's namesake brand.
