Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals dropped their second straight game to the Vero Beach Dodgers, losing 4-3 at Roger Dean Stadium.
Cardinals' starter Nick Webber kept the Cardinals in the game, allowing three runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out five, in seven innings. In his previous three outings, Webber managed to pitch only five innings each start.
Designated hitter Ryan Carter supplied an RBI double in the first and a two RBI triple in the third to push Vero Beach out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning.
Palm Beach (11-7) waited to make their comeback late in the game once again, scoring all their runs in the seventh. The Cardinals scored three runs on two hits and the Dodgers did the rest committing two errors in the inning.
Vero Beach (6-12) eliminated all hopes of a Cardinals win scoring in the top of the ninth off reliever Dennis Dove (0-1), with Jamie Hoffman scoring on a sacrifice fly to left field by Gabriel Gutierrez.
The Palm Beach Cardinals welcome the Daytona Cubs for a three game series starting tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
