Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Acadiana Cane Cutters split the doubleheader against the Texas Marshals on Friday night after two nights off.
In the 3-2 win, the Cane Cutters took an early 2-0 lead at the top of the second after Matthew Guidry of Southern Mississippi hit a double, bringing in two Cane Cutter runners.
Alabama's Cobie Vance scored the Cane Cutters final run in the fifth. The Marshals put up two at the bottom of the fifth, but stout pitching by the Cane Cutters lefty Brian Browning from Ole Miss was the difference maker.
Browning tossed all seven innings striking out six on the night to lead Acadiana to the victory.
In game 2, the Marshals defeated the Cane Cutters by a final score of 3-1.
The two teams will wrap up the series tomorrow night at 7.
Acadiana's next home game will be next Sunday, when the Cane Cutters take on the Brazos Valley Bombers.
Sunday's game against the Bombers will be the Dog Days of Summer. Fans can purchase a $3 pooch pass to bring their dog to the game. All proceeds will be given to local animal shelters.
