Camila, Iranduba Advance to Libertadores Semifinal

November 28, 2018 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - Orlando Pride News Release

Camila is on to the Copa Libertadores semifinal.

The Orlando Pride defender and her new team, E.C. Iranduba -- a club from Manaus, Brazil, deep in the Amazon rainforest with whom Camila signed a short-term contract through the NWSL offseason -- advanced to the semifinal of the South American continental championship with a win and two draws in the group stage.

Camila played in all three of Iranduba's Group C matches.

The Libertadores run began with a 2-1 win over Colombian side Flor de Patria. Camila started and played 72 minutes. Iranduba drew its next two matches -- 2-2 against Cerro Porteno (the Paraguayan club whose men's side Orlando City midfielder Josué Colmán played for) and 1-1 against Argentine side UAI Urquiza. Camila started both those matches as well, going 57 and 80 minutes, respectively.

Iranduba will play Colombian side Atlético Huila in the semifinal on Thursday. The winner of that match will face the winner of Santos (Brazil) and Colo-Colo (Chile) in the championship. Both semifinals and the final will be played in Amazonia Arena in Manaus, which hosted four matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Libertadores run comes just over a month after Iranduba captured the 2018 Amazonas provincial championship.
