September 27, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen in partnership with ENMAX are proud to announce "The Hitmen Pledge powered by ENMAX'.

As part of the 25th anniversary season of Hitmen Hockey, this charitable initiative hopes to raise 25,000 hours of community service towards Calgary and surrounding area.

Fans and members of the community alike are asked to take the pledge by contributing 25 volunteer hours to a charitable cause of their choice. This could be divided among several charities or to a single not-for profit organization.

For every 25 hours donated, volunteers will receive one entry to win $25,000 to gift to a registered Southern Alberta charity of their choice. The chosen not-for-profit organization must have a registered charitable number and AGLC ID number to be eligible to receive the $25,000 grant from the Hitmen Foundation. The draw will take place during the regular season finale on Sunday, March 22, 2020 against the visiting Swift Current Broncos.

"We are extremely proud to honour 25 years of Hitmen Hockey with an opportunity to have a significant impact in our city," said Hitmen Vice President and Alternate Governor Mike Moore. "Giving back to the community is an important part of the fabric of Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation but it is also a critical teaching and learning curve for young Hitmen players. Being leaders, mentors and role models is as important to the Hitmen organization as the on ice performance. We encourage all Hitmen fans and Calgarians to celebrate 25 years of Hitmen hockey with us in our community and take the pledge."

"ENMAX is very proud to partner with the Calgary Hitmen on this program," said Diana Stephenson, Vice-President Public Affairs, ENMAX. "At ENMAX, we power the potential of communities, and one of the most important ways we do that is by volunteering and investing in the places where we live and work. The Hitmen have a strong history of bringing people together, generating incredible enthusiasm and giving back. Together, this combined spirit will power the Hitmen Pledge to make a significant difference in our community."

Pledge timesheet forms are available online at hitmenhockey.com/pledge and at the Scotiabank Saddledome at both Guest Services and the Concierge desk. Once a pledge participant reaches 25 hours, completed timesheets can be returned to the place of pickup or submitted online. The deadline for all submissions is March 15, 2020.

The community program was officially launched at tonight's Hitmen Home Opener.
