Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks gave up their weekend quota of goals in Chicago Friday; C.J. Motte made sure the Hawks didn't give up any more Saturday in a 3-0 home win against the Des Moines Buccaneers.
After watching a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Steel a night earlier, Motte turned away 32 Des Moines shots for his first USHL shutout.
The Black Hawks scored a goal in each period, beginning with Nick Sorkin's finish into an open side at 4:39 of the first. Brock Montpetit set up the play from the opposite side of the crease. In the second, J.T. Brown dropped a puck to Jimmy Siers, just out of the penalty box, and Siers blasted it in at 10:48. Jamie Hill added one more power play goal at 8:12 of the third.
The Black Hawks warm up for their traditional Thanksgiving home game with a trip to Omaha Wednesday. Waterloo meets the Lancers at 7:05, the same start time as their Thursday game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.
