BULLS EDGE ICERAYS IN 5-4 THRILLER TO POST 12TH WIN OF THE SEASON

January 15, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - Amarillo Bulls News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The new look Amarillo Bulls demonstrated a lot of character and heart in their game on Saturday night versus the Corpus Christi IceRays at American Bank Center.

The Bulls rallied from two deficits including a two goal margin in the second period and edged the IceRays 5-4 in overtime. Jared Domin scored the game winner on a hard shot just six seconds into the extra session. That victory was the Bulls 12th of the season, and it snapped an eight game winless slide that dated back to December 2nd. Other marksmen for the Bulls were Josh Deluca, Jason Brancheau, Brendon Michaelian and Trey Bagwell. Domin and Austin O'Rourke each had two assists. Jason Grande posted the win in goal.

Amarillo started the game in the right direction with its 23rd first goal of the season Jason Brancheau scored on a screen shot from the high slot area with help from Jared Domin. The hometown IceRays tied the game up in the final five minutes of the stanza as Larry Jungwirth scored via the power play. The Bulls outshot the IceRays 8-3 in the first period.

Corpus Christi scored two quick goals to nab a 3-1 lead in the first 10 minutes of second period as CJ Regula and Angus Scott both scored. However, that seem to fire up the Bulls as they came roaring back with two goals of their own. Trey Bagwell tallied from the slot area thanks to some great work along the boards from Nikita Sokolov. The power play then hit the mark as Brendan Michaelian scored on a point shot from Austin O'Rourke. Corpus Christi outshot Amarillo 12-11 in the second period.

It was a wild third period that ultimately was decided by special teams. Corpus Christi took a 4-3 lead on a shorthanded goal by Rylee St. Onge as the Bulls got caught up the ice. Seven seconds later, Josh Deluca scooped up a loose puck and scored with a high shot to tie the game.

It didn't take long for the Bulls to get the victory as Jared Domin took the puck off the face-off to start overtime and his shot snuck through a defender and then over the shoulder of Chad Veltri.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Corpus Christi IceRays 29-22. There were a total of seven power plays in the game with the Bulls going 2 for 3 and the IceRays were 1 for 4.

Hockey returns to the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18, 19, and 20th. The Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes for the next three games of the New Avenues I-27 Freeway Championship Series.

Saturday is Star Wars Night Presented by Comic Con in support of 24 Hours in the Canyon. The Bulls will wear special 24 hours in the Canyon jerseys and a live auction will follow immediately after the game on Saturday night.
