April 24, 2022 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

The Shreveport Mudbugs (0-2) got goals from Lukas Sedlacek and Timofei Khokhlachev, but it wasn't enough as they came up short to the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-2 in game 2 and trail 0-2 in the best-of-five opening round of the Robertson Cup Playoffs.

Lone Star netted the game's first goal on their first shot of the night when Tanner Daniels created space in the RW circle and snapped home his first goal of the playoffs to give the Brahmas an early 1-0 lead at 1:08. The Bugs responded at 8:32 as Lukas Sedlacek along the far side and tucked in the team's first goal of the post-season to even the score, 1-1. Jake Mack fed Sedlackek the puck and picked up the only assist. Lone Star capitalized on their first PP opportunity when Arthur Turansky redirected in his first goal of the playoffs which snuck through Devon Bobak's pads and barely went past the goal line to give the Brahmas a 2-1 edge. The South Division regular season champs delivered the biggest blow late in the opening period at 18:56 when Bauer Swift threw an innocent shot from the right point which Bobak didn't see at all and went past him far side to extend the LS lead to 3-1.

The Bugs answered in the LS momentum in the middle period by out-shooting the Brahmas, 10-4. Shreveport was able to get their first PP goal of the series when Gunner Moore ripped a shot towards the net and it was Timofei Khokhlachev slamming home the rebound for his first tally of the postseason to cut the deficit, 3-2 at 15:33. Moore and Jacob Onstott earned the assists. Shreveport led in SOG, 16-9 after two.

The Bugs showed a lot of fight in the third period and kept the game within a one-goal deficit throughout the 3rd period. The biggest problem for Shreveport is they could only muster one shot on net in the entire final period and came up short to the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-2.

The Bugs trail a best-of-five series, 2-0 for the first time since the 2017 playoff series against the Corpus Christi IceRays.

The Bugs and Brahmas will shift their best-of-five series to George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum for game 3 next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
