Bucks Suffer Déjà vu' in Loss at Brahmas

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Texas Brahmas 4-3 Friday night at NYTEX Sports Center. Laredo and Rio Grande Valley both lost Friday keeping the Bucks two points behind the Killer Bees for the final playoff spot in the Berry Conference with two games remaining. The Bucks have lost four straight games to fall to 22-34-8 (52 points).

Laredo had third period lead for the third game this season at Texas but once again fell victim to a Brahmas comeback.

The Bucks had a 3-1 lead with 14 minutes left after Daniel Koger scored his team-leading 28th of the season but the Brahmas would score three straight to snap their three-game losing streak.

Chad Woollard put the Brahmas ahead with 5:03 left in the third period when he jammed in his league-leading 44th goal of the season.

The Brahmas tied the game at 3-3 with 6:36 left in the third when Greg Hogeboom jammed in a rebound right in front of the net to pick up his 36th of the season.

Jason Krischuk put the Brahmas down 3-2 with a little over 12 minutes left when he stuffed in a shot from the right side of the crease.

The Bucks were outshot 13-6 in the third period and 29-23 in the game.

The Bucks scored the opening goal for the first time on their four-game road trip when Jeff Hazelwood scored a shorthanded tally 5:48 into the first period. Hazelwood, a former Brahma, picked up his 17th goal of the season.

The Brahmas would tie the game at 1-1 when Mick Lawrence scored a power-play goal from the top of the left circle with 7:16 left in the first period. The goal was Lawrence's 21st of the season.

Less than three minutes later Laredo would re-take the lead 2-1 when Brian Matte scored on an odd-man rush to pick up his 13 of the season. The strike was Matte's ninth goal in his last 11 games.

Texas outshot Laredo 8-7 in the first period.

Neither team was able to score in the second period giving the Bucks a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Laredo outshot Texas 10-8 in the second period.

Wayne Savage improved to 3-0 against the Bucks this season as he stopped 20 of 23 shots he faced while Pier Pelletier suffered the loss stopping 25 of 29.
