DES MOINES, IA - The Lancers were defeated by the Des Moines Buccaneers on Sunday evening by a final score of 5-2.

The Lancers got ahead of the Buccaneers in the first period when Liam Devlin (6:03) scored on the breakaway. Alex Gaffney chipped the puck ahead right to Devlin who netted the shot on Josh Langford for a 1-0 lead. Des Moines answered back with Alex Laferriere () scoring an unassisted goal evening the game. Omaha took the lead back when Aiden Dubinsky () netted the puck from the high slot. The goal was Dubinsky's first of his USHL career. The Lancers kept the 2-1 lead going into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Buccaneers evened the game 2-2 with a goal from Lucas Mercuri (12:19) off of a Lancers' defensive-zone turnover.

The Buccaneer attack continued into the third period when Trevor Mitchell (3:52) scored from the blue line followed by two goals from Matt Choupani (5:22 and 19:23) for a final score of 5-2. The Buccaneers outshot the Lancers 30 to 18 in the contest.

After the loss, the Lancers have moved to third place in the Western Conference with a record of 9-7 and 18 points. Omaha will now set their sights on Saturday, January 8th against the Fargo Force. Puck drop at Ralston arena is set for 6:05 PM.
