Bruins with 5 More Regular Season Games - Jockeying for Position in Playoffs

March 25, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - Austin Bruins News Release

RECAP/PREVIEW: The Bruins dropped a pair of games in Bismarck over the weekend, falling on Friday 3-2 and again on Saturday, 4-2. Dante Zapata was the most productive Bruin on the series scoring three of the Bruins four total goals. Hugh Larkin also lit the lamp as he continues his strong stretch with seven goals in eight games. It looked as though Larkin had his eighth goal in eight games on Saturday, but his efforts were waved off as a no-goal. Kyle McClellan earned the loss in both nights despite playing well and makings 49 saves on 55 total shots.

Up next the Bruins have a three-in-three scheduled, starting on Thursday, March 28. Austin starts their road trip with a make-up game against the Brookings Blizzard at Larson Ice Arena. After the showdown with the Blizzard, the Bruins will head north on I-29 for back-to-back games against the Aberdeen Wings. Thursday's game against Brookings will mark the team's final game of the season against the Blizzard and the same can be said about the Saturday night game against the Wings.

Austin returns home on April 5th and 6th for their final games of the regular season against the Bismarck Bobcats.

TEAM NOTES: As noted earlier last week in a press release, the Bruins have extended head coach Steve Howard. Dante Sheriff was awarded the NAHL Central Division Star of the Week Award for the week of 3/18 after a five-point weekend during the previous games.
