Austin Bruins News Release

AUSTIN, MN - After holding serve on home ice in games one and two of their Central Division Semifinal series with the Minnesota Wilderness, the Austin Bruins take their act on the road this weekend, looking to end their rival's season and punch their ticket to the Division Finals.

Game three will take place on Friday night at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet, MN at 7:05 PM, with the Bruins - the #2 seed, leading the best-of-five series, two games to none over #3 Minnesota. One more win would put them in the Central Division Finals for the sixth time in the last seven seasons (and sixth time in eight overall seasons of franchise history). The other side of the Central Division playoff bracket sees the #1 Aberdeen Wings and #4 Minot Minotauros tied at one game a piece, with their series shifting to North Dakota this weekend.

Games one and two at Riverside Arena followed similar patterns, with the Bruins scoring single goals in the first and second periods, before the Wilderness cut the deficit in half in the third. Friday's final was 2-1 Bruins, and Saturday turned out to be a 3-1 score with an empty-net goal added in the final minute. Forward Alex Mella scored the game-winning goal in both games, while captain Lane Krenzen (Duluth Marshall High School) led all scorers with three points. Goaltender Alex Schilling turned aside 37 of 39 shots on the weekend.

Should the Wilderness win on Friday, game four would be in Cloquet at 7:05 on Saturday night. A winner-take-all game five, if necessary, would be played on Monday, April 23rd at Riverside Arena in Austin at 7:05.
