High Point Rockers News Release
HIGH POINT, N.C. - High Point shortstop Aidan Brewer blasted a pair of home runs but it wasn't enough as the Long Island Ducks took a 4-3 decision from the High Point Rockers Friday night at Truist Point.
The Rockers are now 12-16 on the season while the Ducks moved to 14-13.
Matt Solter (L, 1-5) was tagged with the loss, but fought through a season-high six innings, surrendering four runs on nine hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.
Long Island's Chris Roller scored the game's first run for the second consecutive night after singling and later coming around to score when Ronaldo Hernandez grounded into a double play as the Ducks went up 1-0.
Patrick Sanchez answered back for High Point, reaching via a single and eventually coming home on a Ducks error to knot the game at 1-1.
Brewer gave High Point their first lead in the ballgame in the third inning, notching his first round tripper of the season to give the Rockers a 2-1 cushion.
Long Island strung together three singles in the fourth, capped off by an Aaron Takacs RBI knock as the Ducks tied the game at 2-2.
The Ducks later took the lead back when Hernandez singled to score Roller from second, edging the Ducks in front 3-2.
Brewer clubbed his second home run of the night, going the other way to knot the game at 3-3 in the fifth. The homer notched the shortstop's first multi home run game of his professional career.
The tie was short lived due to an RBI double off the bat of Anthony Garcia that plated Alsander Womack to give the Ducks a their final 4-3 margin.
Game five of this six-game set is slated for 6:35 on Saturday at Truist Point. The Rockers will send the righty David Hess (1-1) to the hill opposed by Long Island's Julian Minaya (0-0).
