Bravehearts Stay Hot with a 7-3 Victory over the Navigators
Lynn, MA - Makenzie Stills pitched 7 dominant innings, allowing just one earned run and Michael Dellicarri went 2-5 with a home run to propel Worcester past North Shore.
The Navigators struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Elias Varinos hit an RBI single to score J.P. Knight and give North Shore a 1-0 lead. Worcester would respond in the top half of the fourth when a Michael Dellicarri solo home run tied the game. Mac Cheli gave Worcester a 2-1 lead in the 6th inning with a solo shot of his own.
Worcester put up five runs in the 8th inning to put the game out of reach. With runners on second and third, a throwing error by North Shore's third baseman Varinos off of a ground ball hit by Brett Coffel allowed two runs to score. Jon Hansen would later hit a two-run RBI single to give Worcester a 6-1 advantage. Joe Pesce also hit an RBI single to stretch the lead to 7-1.
North Shore would add two runs in the ninth thanks to a two-run RBI double by Michael Wynne.
Makenzie Stills got the win for Worcester and was lights out. He pitched 7 innings, allowing just one run off six hits and striking out 11 batters.
"My mechanics were looking good today," Stills said. "I was just trying to get ahead of hitters and attack."
Kendall Pomeroy pitched a clean 8th inning for the Bravehearts and Danny Barlok closed it out, but surrendered two runs (one earned). Justin Foley picked up the loss for North Shore.
With the win, the Bravehearts improve to 21-14, while the Navigators fall to 13-22. Worcester continues play in Nashua tomorrow against the Silver Knights at 6:45 pm.
