Worcester Bravehearts News Release

Worcester - The Worcester Bravehearts got back on track with a 4-0 victory over the Brockton Rox Saturday night at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.

Bravehearts starting pitcher Shawn Babineau was brilliant in his second straight start. The Springfield College left-handed pitcher earned the win for Worcester, giving upa just two hits in seven scoreless innings, striking out 10 and walking only one batter.

The Bravehearts got the scoring started in the bottom of the second, when Bryce Hellgeth hit a solo home run to put Worcester up 1-0.

There was more offense to come from the Bravehearts. Worcester put up two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Mariano Ricciardi led off with a triple, and Jakob Sessa brought him home with a double. Sessa advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored when Jack Gardner singled him home. Two innings later, Gardner would single again, and score on a Brockton error.

C.J. McKennett came in to relieve Babineau in the eighth, and Angelo Baez pitched the ninth to lock up the game for Worcester.

For the first eight innings, the Rox did not advance past first base.

The Brockton offense showed some life in the top of the ninth, putting runners at second and third, but were unable to successfully get anybody home.

With the win, the Bravehearts move to 3-2, and Brockton falls to 6-4.

The Bravehearts' next game is scheduled for Sunday against the Pittsfield Suns. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
