Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (4-3) got edged out by the Lone Star Brahmas dropping a 3-2 decision in Game 2 evening the series, 1-1 at a rowdy Nytex Sports Centre Saturday night.
The Brahmas got on the board at 1:40 into the game as Anthony Cappello slapped in a rebound in front for his first goal of the playoffs to give LSB an early 1-0 lead. SHV couldn't get much going in the opening period as they were out-shot 12-3 after one.
SHV tied the game at 1:58 of the second period on their PP opportunity as Ryan Burke fed Brent Litchard down who tucked in his second tally of the playoffs along the short side to even the score, 1-1. LSB had a quick answer as at 3:31, it was Owen Kerr cutting through the right wing and hammering in a tally to give the Brahmas a 2-1 lead. Shreveport responded yet again at 11:48 as Burke found a puck down off a shot from Carter McKay and nudged in his second goal of the postseason to tie the contest, 2-2. It only took a minute though for the home team to cash in again as Charlie Masek roofed in a goal from the left corner off a rebound to give LSB a 3-2 advantage at 12:48.
It was a scoreless third period as LSB fended off a surge from SHV to complete a 3-2 victory and evening the South Division Finals series, 1-1.
The Bugs and Brahmas shift their South Division Finals series to George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum for Game 3 next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. You can purchase your tickets by calling (318) 636-7094 or by emailing our Dir. of Ticket Sales Kimberly Jacks at kimberly@mudbugshockey.com.
