Bowman Returns to Spokane

After playing in one exhibition game and a pair of intersquad scrimmages, Drayson Bowman has been reassigned to the Spokane Chiefs by the Carolina Hurricanes. The 18-year-old forward in en route to Prince George where the Chiefs open the regular season with back-to-back road games against the Cougars.

Bowman was the Hurricanes third round pick in this summer's NHL Entry Draft and was singled out by www.hurricanes.nhl.com after his first appearance at an NHL training camp.

"Of the four players being reassigned, Drayson Bowman, this year's third-round pick out of Spokane of the Western Hockey League, made the biggest impact. He looked good in the Hurricanes' lone exhibition game last Sunday and drew praise from his coach after playing in both scrimmage games. 'I thought Drayson Bowman was good,' said Hurricane's Head Coach Peter Laviolette. 'He played in the first exhibition game with us, and he displayed a lot of skill and poise with the puck,'" the website said.

The 18-year-old scored 24 goals and 43 points in 61 games last season. As a rookie, in 2005-06, Bowman scored 17 goals and 34 points and was named the Chiefs Rookie of the Year. Bowman was the Chiefs first round selection in the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft. Bowman participated in the Top Prospect Game in January 2007.

The Chiefs will take on the Cougars at 7:00 on both Friday and Saturday night. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 6:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on KJRB 790 the fan each night.
