Bombers Bolster Pitching Staff with Four New Additions

Bryan/College Station, Texas - The Brazos Valley Bombers are excited to announce the addition of Brad Verel, Cody Lecompte, Ben Butler, and Tyler Brown to the 2018 Brazos Valley Bombers roster.

Brad Verel is a Sophomore left-handed pitcher for Seminole State College, who has served as the team's ace this season. For Seminole State College, Verel has pitched to a team leading 10-2 record with a 3.69 ERA. His command has been top notch, as he has only allowed 13 walks this season, while striking out 69 players this season.

Cody Lacompte is a Junior left-handed relief pitcher for Texas A&M Corpus Christi. This season, he has been one of the top bullpen arms for the Islanders. He has pitched to a 2.90 ERA and has picked up two saves this season. Lacompte has done a good job missing bats, striking out 26 on the season in 31 innings pitched, including a 6-strikeout performance against UTSA.

Ben Butler is a Junior left-handed pitcher who has been effective in limited innings this season for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Butler has pitched to an ERA of 3.00, ranking second on the team. He has also struck out over a batter an inning while holding the opposition to a .081 batting average against. Last summer, Butler played for the Eau Claire Express in the Northwoods league, where he made a great impact with a 3.17 ERA, striking out just over a batter an inning, and allowing only seven hits.

Tyler Brown is a Junior left-handed pitcher for Central Michigan University. Brown came to the Chippewas after a strong career at Galveston Junior College. There in two years, Brown recorded 50 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched, garnering Junior College All-Star and Second Team All-District honors.
