Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Blue Wahoos and ESPN Pensacola announced a joint partnership on Wednesday, making the ESPN affiliate the radio flagship station for Blue Wahoos Baseball in 2019. All 140 Blue Wahoos games this season will air on ESPN Pensacola, part of the ADX Communications group.

Fans will be able to listen to Blue Wahoos play-by-play broadcaster Chris Garagiola on ESPN's 94.5 FM signal. In addition, fans can access game broadcasts live through BlueWahoos.com.

"When anyone hears the name ESPN in sports, it has a certain ring," said Garagiola. "I think fans have a certain expectation of quality and ESPN Pensacola will deliver on that quality. With ESPN Pensacola being locally owned and the Blue Wahoos being a local team, this is a great fit. I think this is going to be the best year we've had in the entire run, in terms of how the game is delivered on the radio."

"We are so happy to have this partnership with ESPN Pensacola," said Blue Wahoos team president Jonathan Griffith. "Dave and Mary have been Blue Wahoos fans since our franchise began in 2012 and they are so active in our community and believe in our mission to improve the quality of life in Pensacola. We feel this new connection adds to that mission and gives us a powerful outlet for everyone to listen to our games, if they cannot be at the stadium to catch the action. Being part of the Pensacola Radio Group will expand our brand throughout the region."

ESPN Pensacola was launched in August 2018 as part of the company of radio stations owned by long-time Pensacola residents Dave and Mary Hoxeng. The ADX Communications group of stations also includes Cat Country 98.7, NewsRadio 1620/FM92.3, and Northwest Florida's Talk Radio 1330 AM WEBY.

"We are very excited to partner with the Blue Wahoos for the baseball season on ESPN Pensacola 94.5!" Mary Hoxeng said. "I know that the community is something that is so important to their organization and that has always been our #1 priority when it comes to our radio stations."

In addition to being the broadcast home of the Blue Wahoos, ESPN Pensacola also features local shows to supplement popular ESPN programming. Sports director Chad Brillante hosts the Sports Drive from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday with local guests and local content. The station also airs Talk Football With Kay, hosted by Pensacola native and former Buffalo Bills head coach Kay Stephenson from 12-1 PM. and broadcasts all UWF football games.

Pensacola fans will have their first opportunity to listen to the team on ESPN Pensacola on Thursday, April 4 when the Blue Wahoos open the 2019 season against the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile at 6:35 PM. After a five-game series in Mobile, the Blue Wahoos will play their home opener on Wednesday, April 10 against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at 6:35 PM.
