Blizzard Pitch First Shut-Out in Franchise History, 47-0
The Green Bay Blizzard defense played a nearly perfect game again on Saturday night at the Resch Center against the Cedar Rapids River Kings pitching the first ever shut-out in franchise history, 47 to 0. The Blizzard defense intercepted 3 River King passes, recovered 3 River King fumbles, blocked a River King field goal and returned it for a touchdown and returned a missed field goal for a touchdown. For the second week in a row, defensive linemen Silverberry Mouhon scored when he recovered a blocked field goal for the TD in the second quarter and early in the 4th quarter, IFL Hall of Famer, BJ Hill returned a missed field goal for a touchdown. The defense also had 2 sacks and 5 tackles-for-loss. The River Kings could only muster 49 total offensive yards and only 4 first downs.
Offensively the Blizzard were efficient. Quarterback Lenorris Footman was 7 for 10 passing for 80 yards and 3 touchdown passes to Kezlow Smith, BJ Hill and Levi Copelin. Lenorris left the game at halftime with the game out of reach at 33 to 0. Back up quarterback Malik Watson was 5 for 9 passing for 45 yards. Reigning IFL Offensive Player of the week, running back Anthony Pyilyaw, who spend some time in the Packers training camp, rushed 12 times for 32 yards and 2 touchdowns.
