Blizzard Not Enough to Take Down Barnstormers
In another back and forth game with a last second outcome, The Green Bay Blizzard lost to the defending champion Iowa Barnstormers 54 to 49 on Sunday afternoon in Green Bay.
The Blizzard scored on a quarterback Lenorris Footman 35-yard pass to receiver Keshaun Taylor with about 50 seconds to play to take the lead 49 to 48. The Barnstormers took the kickoff to their own 15-yard line. After a short pass from Iowa quarterback Daquan Neil to receiver Connor Hollenbeck, Neil hit a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jazeric Peterson, who made a fantastic catch to give the Barnstormers the lead with 30 seconds to play. The Blizzard could not convert on a 4th down pass and the game ended with the score 54 to 49.
The Barnstormers improve to 10 and 1 and hold the second seed in the IFL playoff picture. The top 2 seeds earn a first-round bye. The Blizzard fall to 6 and 5 but and are now tied for the fourth seed with the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The 4th seed earns a home playoff game starting the weekend of June 22.
Green Bay will have their 3rd and final bye next week then travel to Bismarck for their matchup on June 1st.
