Blaze Add Depth to Receiving Corp

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze are pleased to announce the signing of WR Michael Preston (6-4, 205, Heidelberg) to the 2011 roster. Preston will add depth to the receiving corp for one of the AFL's top ranked offenses as they prepare to face the Chicago Rush.
"Preston is a big receiver who has a tremendous upside. We are anxious to see how he will blend with the talented group already in place on our team," said Head Coach Ron James. "As the regular season winds down it is always important to add depth even at some of your most talent rich positions."
In his final campaign at Heidelberg, Preston led the team with 76 receptions for 1,213 receiving yards. He started all 10 games and led the team with 15 touchdown passes. Preston was named to the AFCA All-American Team as a senior, the first time a student-athlete was honored with the award in the school's history.
Within the Ohio Athletic Conference, Preston led the way with 7.60 receptions per game and an average of 121.3 yards an outing. He was also ranked second in receiving touchdowns. Preston finished his collegiate career as the all-time receiving yards leader with 2,748 and receiving touchdowns with 27. In 2010, he topped the Heidelberg single-season record book for receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
The Blaze travel to Chicago to face the Rush on Friday, July 1st, with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m. (MT). The following week, the team continues on the road to face the Spokane Shock in the first ever outdoor arena football game.
