The Blades have advanced to the semi-finals after defeating the Prince Albert Raiders in six games of the opening round. The fourth ranked Ice are the Blades next opponent.
The Saskatoon Blades shutdown the Kootenay Ice in the regular season with a perfect 4-0 series record. Steven Stanford was in net for all four wins in which he attained a 2.00 GAA and 93.3% save percentage. In the regular season series, Marek Viedensky led against the Ice with 7 points (3G 4A), however 10 different Blades players recorded three or more points in the four games. For the Ice, Jesse Ismond (2G 1A) and Max Reinhart (1G 2A) each picked up three points to lead Kootenay's offensive attack vs. the Blades this season.
Curtis Hamilton and Brayden Schenn lead the Blades offense in playoffs with 10 points each. The Blades powerplay was 25% effective in the first round.
