Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After the Mobile BayBears (44-30/2-3) rallied back to tie the game on two separate occasions, the Biscuits (38-37/3-2) finally took the lead for good with a Ryan Brett's two-run single in the eighth inning for the Biscuits' 7-5 rain-shortened win Monday night at Riverwalk.
With one out and the game tied in the eighth inning, Patrick Schuster walked Cameron Seitzer. Schuster was then lifted for R.J. Hively who would proceed to walk Willie Argo and hit Jeff Malm with a pitch to load the bases. Brett came through with a single to drive in two runs.
Before a pitch was thrown in the ninth inning, a driving rain came down. The tarp was pulled onto the field and the game was called with the Biscuits winning 7-5.
Montgomery got on the board first with an RBI-triple from Luke Maile in the third inning. Two batters later, Seitzer ripped his sixth home run of the season - a two-run shot - to make it 3-0 Montgomery.
The BayBears answered quickly with a three-run fourth inning. The Biscuits continued the back and forth battle when Jake Hager drove in a run in the fourth inning. Seitzer drove in his third run of the game in the fifth with a single to give the Biscuits a 5-3 lead, but Mobile was not finished.
Mobile made it a one-run game in the sixth inning when Jake Lamb drove in a run. Matt Lollis came into the game with the bases full and one out. The right-hander was able to strike out Dustin Martin and Raywilly Gomez to preserve the one-run lead in the sixth, but the BayBears eventually tied the game in the seventh with an RBI-knock from Evan Marzilli.
Matt Ramsey (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for his second win of the season. Schuster (2-2) faced one batter, walked him and received the loss.
Taylor Motter finished with three hits for the Biscuits while Brett, Hager and Seitzer finished with two hits each.
The Biscuits will hit the road for a 10-game road trip starting Tuesday night at Joe W. Davis Stadium. The five-game series with the Huntsville Stars will open with RH Dylan Floro taking the mound for the Biscuits. The Stars will throw RH Jacob Barnes. First pitch is slated for 6:30.
