PEARL, Miss. - David Hale hurled six no-hit innings, and three Mississippi Braves (3-6) relievers followed to combine on a two-hit shutout of the Biscuits (3-6) in a 4-0 final Friday at Trustmark Park.

Hale (1-1) had faced just one more than the minimum through six no-hit innings before he was pulled because of a high pitch count. Andy Russell came on in the seventh looking to continue the no-hit bid, but Cole Figueroa lined a single to right to end those hopes. The Biscuits' only other hit came on a bunt single from Brad Coon in the eighth.

The two hits matches a franchise-low for the Biscuits. It's the seventh time they've finished a game with just two hits.

The Braves got single runs in the first and the fourth, then scored twice in the sixth to chase Joe Cruz (0-2) from the game. Cruz struck out four, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over 5.2. One start after failing to get out of the third inning and throwing more balls than strikes, Cruz threw 50 strikes out out 69 total pitches.

The Biscuits will wrap up a season-opening ten-game trip Saturday night when RHP Jake Thompson takes the bump against Braves LHP Chris Masters. First pitch is set for 6:00.
