
Billig Honored By Northwest League

SPOKANE, WA â The Spokane Indians and the Northwest League of Professional Baseball announced today that Indians President Andy Billig has been named the Northwest League Executive of the Year. Billig, who was honored at the Northwest League Meetings held in Eugene, Oregon, will be presented with the award at the annual Baseball Winter Meetings to be held in Anaheim, California in December. Billig was recognized for his overall contributions to the Indians and for his role in bringing the Northwest League 50th Anniversary All-Star Game to Spokane in August of 2004.
Billig, who has been with the Indians since 1993, is a two-time winner of the Northwest League Executive of the Year Award, previously winning the award following the 1994 season. In addition to his duties as Indians President, Billig also serves as Vice President of Brett Sports and Entertainment and has previously served as Vice President of the Northwest League. Andy and his wife Kendra are the proud parents of one daughter, 4-year old Isabella.
In addition to Billig's award, the Indians were also named the Northwest League representative for the Larry McPhail Promotional Trophy. This award recognizes teams for excellence in marketing, promotions, community relations, and ticket sales among other areas. The Indians will join one team from each league around the country as finalists for the award, which will also be awarded at the Baseball Winter Meetings. The Indians have received the Northwest League nomination for the McPhail Promotional Trophy eleven of the last fourteen years.
