
Big moves mark last day of trades

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, January 8, 2007 - Several teams made moves prior to Monday's trade deadline (noon). In perhaps the most surprising deal of the winter trade period, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan sent defenseman Mathieu Carle (87-09-30) to the Huskies for defenseman Marc-Antoine Desnoyers (89-01-15), a second round pick (acquired from Moncton) and a third round pick (acquired from Chicoutimi) in 2007. In another blockbuster, the Screaming Eagles acquired defenseman Luc Bourdon (87-02-16) from the Wildcats for defenseman Mark Barberio (90-03-23) and a first round pick in 2007. Cape Breton also acquired forward Jonathan Laberge (87-08-23) from the Sea Dogs for winger Matthew Stoddard (90-06-20).
The Titan continued their shopping spree by landing defenseman Brad Tesink (89-01-15) and a fifth round pick (acquired from Acadie-Bathurst) in 2008 from the Olympiques for blueliner Ken Dufresne (87-10-05) and their second round selection in 2008. Then, Acadie-Bathurst sent their third round pick in 2008 to the Fog Devils for defenseman Zach Firlotte (86-05-24) and traded defenseman Justin Vienneau (86-06-20) to the Huskies for their third round pick in 2007.
The Huskies sent forward Benoit Lévesque (89-06-10) to Drummondville for a fourth round pick (acquired from St. John's) in 2008.
The Mooseheads traded defenseman Ben Chaisson (87-01-15) to the Fog Devils for a sixth round pick in 2007.
The Voltigeurs sent defenseman Beau Prokopetz (87-04-30) to Cape Breton for their third round pick in 2007 and also traded right-winger Bobby Fugère (89-12-20) to the Remparts for goaltender Nicolas Barrière (89-08-11).
The Océanic sent winger Marc-André Laroche (89-02-15) to the Drakkar for defenseman Keven Dupont (89-02-09). Rimouski also traded Nicholas Goyens (88-07-14) to the Wildcats for fourth and sixth round selections in 2008.
The Fog Devils acquired left-winger Colin Escott (89-02-19) from the Olympiques for their twelfth round pick in 2007. Gatineau then sent an eighth round pick in 2008 to the Huskies for Ãmile Bouchard (89-02-01).
Finally, the Sea Dogs sent right-winger Olivier Painchaud (89-06-03) to the Saguenéens for a fourth round pick in 2008.
