New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
READING, PA - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) used their highest single-inning output of the season to down the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies) 7-2 Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Stadium, scoring seven runs in the seventh to back another quality start from Jordan Romano (W, 8-0).
Reading got on the board with an unearned run in the first inning. After an error allowed a one-out runner to reach, a two-out RBI single from Zach Green later in the frame plated the first run of the game for either side.
A seven-run seventh proved to be the difference in the game. New Hampshire sent 11 men to the dish and scored seven runs on four hits, including RBI singles from Harold Ramirez, Connor Panas and Andrew Guillotte. The decisive blow was a sacrifice fly by Max Pentecost with the bases loaded and one out, which brought home the third run of the stanza and made it 3-1 'Cats. Cavan Biggio had worked a bases loaded walk early in the inning to force home the tying score.
Romano was once again superb in his ninth start of the season. The right-hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over six and two-thirds innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out seven.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished the game with two hits in four trips to raise his average to a league-best .423.
Brayden Bouchey and Nick Hartman combined on 2.1 scoreless innings in their Double-A debuts.
The series continues tomorrow night in Reading. The Fisher Cats have yet to announce their starter while the Fightins will send RHP Harold Arauz to the mound. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Fisher Cats Pregame Show and continues with first pitch at 6:45 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
New Hampshire returns home on Friday night to open a long homestand through Memorial Day Weekend. On Friday, the Fisher Cats will welcome the Hartford Yard Goats for a 6:35 p.m. game.
