January 6, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

The Chicago Rush completed its 2005 radio broadcast team with the addition of color analyst James “Big Cat” Williams, and pregame and halftime host Sharon Jackson, the team announced today.

The pair will join veteran announcer Tom Dore on all Rush broadcasts this season on 105.9 WCKG-FM.

Williams spent 12 seasons playing for the Chicago Bears after being signed as an undrafted free agent in 1991. After beginning his career on the defensive side of the ball, Williams moved to offense during the 1992 season and became a mainstay at right tackle for nearly a decade, starting 134 straight games from 1994-2002. In 2001 Williams helped lead the Bears to a 13-3 record and was selected to play in his first Pro Bowl.

“‘Big Cat’ Williams is identifiable with Chicago football,” said Rush owner Mike Ditka. “We saw great potential in him when I was the coach of the Bears and we see that same potential now. He’ll do a great job.”

Jackson joins the broadcast to host the teamÂ’s expanded pregame show, beginning 30 minutes prior to kickoff this season, as well as handle all halftime and postgame duties. Jackson currently serves as a football contributor on the Kevin Matthews Show on WCKG.

The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season with the 2005 home opener set for noon on Sunday, February 6, against Jon Bon JoviÂ’s Philadelphia Soul. Rush season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale. To reserve your tickets, or for more information about 2005 Rush season tickets, fans can call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the teamÂ’s Web site at www.chicagorush.com.
