Belters Set for 6-Game Home Stand

NORMAL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, will begin a six-game home stand tomorrow. Following an off day on Monday, August 22, the CornBelters will be back at the Corn Crib on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:00pm (Reading `Round the Bases Tuesday / Kids Run the Show!).
Tuesday, August 23, 7pm - Reading `Round the Bases Tuesday / Kids Run the Show: All kids in attendance are welcome to run the bases after the game every Tuesday night! On "Reading 'Round the Bases Tuesday," Rosati's Pizza of Normal reading program participants will have the opportunity to be recognized during a pre-game parade around the field, led by Corny! Reading program participants are also welcome to use their ticket voucher on this night for the best available seating in the ballpark! Kids will also help "Run the Show" this night so get ready to see and hear kids helping with various aspects of the in-game entertainment!
Wednesday, August 24, 7pm - Dog Days Wednesday / Stop Hunger Canned Food Drive / Non-Profit Night: Wednesday has gone to the dogs! Don't forget to bring out your barking best friends. All dogs must stay in the Lawn during the game - for obvious reasons! You can help fight hunger by bringing one or more canned goods to the Corn Crib on any Wednesday night. You will receive a free small popcorn, compliments of Sodexo! Cans can be dropped off at any concession stand in the ballpark that serves popcorn. It's also "Non-Profit Night" at The Corn Crib! Help raise funds for your local non-profit organizations with tickets to this game.
Thursday, August 25, 7pm - Thirsty Thursday / Greek Night: Every Thursday night is "Thirsty Thursday" where select draft beers are available for only $1.00! There will also be a bags tournament on the concourse! On "Greek Night," we invite members of the local fraternities and sororities to join us and participate in competitions like tug-of-war, sumo wrestling and eating contests on the field throughout the night!
Friday, August 26, 7pm - CEFCU Fireworks Friday / Illinois State University Night / Illinois Wesleyan Night: Every Friday is "CEFCU All American Friday!" CornBelters players will be wearing special patriotic jerseys every Friday during the entire season to show their pride! Stick around after the game for a spectacular fireworks show brought to you by CEFCU! Come out wearing your red and green as we celebrate "ISU Night" and "IWU Night" at The Corn Crib! Every group of twenty or more from Illinois State University or Illinois Wesleyan University can choose one lucky person to throw out the first pitch!
Saturday, August 27, 7pm - State Farm Starstruck Saturday Presents Fergie Jenkins / Taste of Central Illinois: State Farm Starstruck Saturday presents MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins! The three-time MLB All-Star and 1971 Cy Young Award winner amassed 284 wins and 3,192 strikeouts over his prolific career. He had two stints with the Chicago Cubs and also pitched for the Phillies, Rangers and Red Sox. Jenkins will be on hand to throw out the first pitch and sign autographs! The CornBelters and BOPI will host an exclusive reception with Fergie Jenkins for CornBelters corporate partners, friends and guests of BOPI along with members of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. Guests can enter the Corn Crib with a ticket to this event beginning at 5:30 PM and the reception will begin at 6:00 PM. Jenkins will speak about his Hall of Fame pitching career, answer questions and sign autographs. There will be a cash bar available at the reception.
This Saturday, you won't want to miss the first ever "Taste of Central Illinois" here at the Corn Crib starting at 4:00pm! Local restaurants and bakeries will be showcasing delicious eats and tasty treats for you to enjoy before the game. Eric Shangraw, host of "You Gotta Eat," will also be on hand for a meet and greet! It's our own smaller version of the Taste of Chicago!
Sunday, August 28, 6pm - Autograph Sunday / Infinity Print Group Team Photo Giveaway / 90s Night: Stick around after the game every Sunday and you can go down on the field and get autographs from all of your favorite CornBelters players, coaches, and Corny! This Sunday, we will be giving away the CornBelters Team Photo to the first 1,000 fans through the gates, courtesy of Infinity Print Group! This giveaway item is perfect for collecting post-game autographs! This night we're also bringin' back the 90s! Get ready to relive the days of Backstreet Boys, Saved by the Bell, popular Nickelodeon game shows, AOL's "You've Got Mail" and AIM, Friends and "The Rachel" hairstyle, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Spice Girls, Paula Abdul, Chicago Bulls, Polly Pocket, hypercolor clothing, Power Rangers, Giga Pets & Tamagotchi, Lisa Frank, slap bracelets, jelly shoes, 90210 sideburns, and much much more!

THE NIBLET: Larry Gatlin will perform a pre-game concert on Friday, September 2, beginning at 6pm. He will also be on hand to sign autographs. Gates will open at 5:30pm and the CornBelters game will follow the concert. This night is also "Cram the Crib" so come out and help us break our attendance record of 6,679!
