TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Traverse City Beach Bums had trouble finding their offense against River City Rascals starting pitcher Don Lisi as the Beach Bums lost the final game of their six-game homestand in front of 4,023 fans at Wuerfel Park by a score of 8-4.

The Rascals opened the scoring in the second inning when shortstop Bobby Burk delivered a sacrifice fly, then got RBI-singles from catcher Danny Sawyer and left fielder Chris McClendon to give River City a 3-0 lead.

Traverse City got back in the contest thanks to a two-run triple from second baseman James Guerrero, scoring left fielder J.T. Hall and designated hitter Jason Codiroli to cut the Beach Bums deficit to 3-2.

River City scored twice in the following inning on a two-run single from Burk to make it a 5-2 game. In the eighth, the Rascals added three more runs off of Traverse City relief pitcher Scott Dunn to give themselves an 8-2 lead. The Beach Bums added a pair of runs off Rascals reliever Matt Rossman on an RBI-triple by Hall and a sacrifice fly by third baseman Jose Vargas to make the score 8-4 and finish the scoring in the ballgame.

Lisi (2-0) pitched eight strong innings on the mound, allowing only two runs to earn his second victory of the season. Beach Bums starting pitcher Andy Paulun (2-1) picked up his first loss after allowing five runs in just 2.1 innings on the mound. The Beach Bums fall to 8-13 with the loss, while the Rascals improve their record to 13-8 in 2011.

The Beach Bums head to Avon, Ohio, to open up a three-game series against the Lake Erie Crushers Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Bryan Banes gets the start for the Beach Bums. The Budweiser pregame show starts at 6:45 p.m. on Sunny Country 101.9 FM and streaming online through tcbeachbums.com.
